This special Mother's Day poem was submitted by my mother in law Lisa Moore. Written after the passing of her own mum, Nola Hodgetts - our Nanny and matriarch.
You birthed me
And loved me
Tenderly
Day by day
You taught me well
Along the way
As you made me who I am today
With loving directions a tear or two
And laughs with you
For you was my Mother
And I was your child
A natural union for us two
And then the day of changes came
All different and new
Slowly and surely
I became you
I loved you sincerely
Tenderly day by day
I helped you a lot along the way
We walked a new road
And shared the load
As I become the Mum
And you the child
With loving directions
And a tear or two
Laughs and frustrations
For us two
This journey we walked
As we both said – I love you
Privileged we were
And privileged I was
To have had a mother like you.
And so the journey we have taken
Comes to the fork in our road
Until we are awakened
When the new day will be told.
