As anyone who has been around me for a little while would know, I love podcasts. And I have several favourites I always tune into or relisten to. One of those is the Dear Daughters podcast by Susie Davis. The episode on Creative Hospitality sparked joy in my soul. I strongly believe that hospitality is one of my talents and deeply embedded into every fiber of my being. But I'll talk about that another time.

Today, the podcast introduced me to a translation of the Bible I haven't heard of before. It's called 'The Voice'. And while I haven't explored it widely, Kristin Schell, who was Susie's guest quoted Romans 12:13. I know that Romans 12 is the 'Living Sacrifices' chapter, so to hear the verse put this way really changed the perspective. It says,

Take every opportunity to open your life and home to others.

As a people person, this spoke volumes to me. This was an encouragement to let people in. To open my door. To make a space at my table. To share with others.

I loved this tiny portion of a much larger chapter that I decided to read the rest of it. And I've decided to share it with you piece by piece so maybe we can ponder it together.

So here's Romans 12:1 (VOICE)

Brothers and sisters, in light of all I have shared with you about God’s mercies, I urge you to offer your bodies as a living and holy sacrifice to God, a sacred offering that brings Him pleasure; this is your reasonable, essential worship.
